MasterChef exposed me to an industry full of different avenues and people, dedicated to their own individual passions. The experience allowed me to really develop my enthusiasm for food within an educational setting. After familiarising myself with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, I knew I could combine my Primary Teaching degree with my love of food. Over the course of several concentrated months, I was challenged in everyway I could be when it came to cooking. I cried, laughed, chopped, baked, barbequed, burnt, froze, set fires, failed, succeeded, failed again and managed to come out the other side.
MasterChef enabled me to proceed in my cooking career with a special set of skills. They are skills that I will try to build on and certainly never forget! I met some amazing foodies with whom I still maintain regular contact. I would encourage anyone to put themselves forward and try something new as it really can open up so many doors!
